A Simple Healing Approach
Bowen is a healing approach based on simplicity, grounded in inherent gifts, that keeps you in control, healthy and happy. Let me explain.
…based on simplicity… Simplicity is defined as ease, straightforwardness, effortlessness, and minimalism. What a perfect description of Bowenwork. People receiving a Bowen session sometimes fall asleep because the process is so relaxing. The only thing the client must do is breathe so that the therapist can apply the gentle suggestions to the body at the end of a breath. You remain clothed. There are no machines or devices used. The medical background required of you could be as simple as “my back hurts when I get up in the morning” or “I feel like I am leaning to one side when I walk”. There is no need to list the medications you are taking since Bowen is effective regardless of what or how long you have been taking them. You need only come in once a week for a few weeks to get the full effect, although a single session may elicit wonderful results.
… inherent gifts…. The irony of what many people see as the biggest breakthrough in the history of medical care is that it was always there and we didn’t know it. Most of medicine deals with how to affect the body but Bowen activates how the body can affect itself. Tom Bowen found (he called it his “gift from God”) that there was a specific movement that when done in specific locations would activate and accelerate a dramatic healing response. This isn’t to be confused with a faith healer who is channeling his/her or an external power to do the work. I have seen proof over and over again that the power is within each person and only needs to be gently set in motion. We have all seen the movies where the treasure chest is opened and the gold glistens in the sunlight. Bowen is kind of like that, Tom Bowen found the map, the therapist uses it and opens the chest but the treasure was always there. You have an amazing treasure within you that has the power to restore your health in many ways, a power that is your birthright.
…keeps you in control… Bowen is empowerment on the highest order. Ultimately, only you can heal and Bowenwork’s only concern is to activate your wholistic body to do that in it’s most efficient, powerful and individual way.
… healthy… From sore throats to open heart surgery, bunions to ADD, and migraines to sciatic pain. If it possible for the body to heal it then Bowenwork will activate and speed up the process. Preventative, acute injuries, chronic problems, sports injuries, infants, elderly, pre and post surgical, during radiation or chemotherapy, pregnancy pains, organic syndromes and diseases, detox from medications and other substances. With over 50 Bowen procedures that focus the body’s attention into areas of highest need there is something for everybody.
… happy. How will you feel when you sleep well again or are pain free enough to do the things that you love to do? Bowen is the most holistic activation of the body in the world today therefore its balancing and mobilizing effects are felt on the psychological and mental level as well. There are procedures, that when added to the basic balancing work, that are effective around issues of grief, anxiety, fatigue, depression, mental clarity and acuity. I have clients that return for a session every few months just for the emotional balancing that they feel from the work.
